ACE READER (Software for Reading Skill)
Nowadays, some students are not interested in reading a passage. it is because there are many kinds of technology that changes the books, such computer, android, and many others. The students more interested in reading those technologies than read a book. Therefore, this software comes as a solution for this problem. This software called ACE READER. ACE READER provides some features that can help students to improve their reading skill.
2. Description
Ace Reader includes Test, Drills and Games. Those features are designed to improve our reading skill.
The program allows us to choose the level that suits with our need/ students need. Ace Reader includes three methods of operation. They are Course Mode, Menu Mode, and Reading Mode. Course Mode leads you through a self- adjusting and personalized training process. It is providing eye span game, self paced reading comprehension test, drill centre and many others. You can choose what activity you will do and choose what level you are.

Reading Mode allows you to choose the material that you will read. In this mode, we can try to read faster. There are some materials we can choose. In teaching reading, teacher can take material from this mode.
3. The weakness of this software:
- It is trial software. We only can use this software for 30 days, after that we have to pay it.
- This software sometimes makes me confuse with its features. The features that are provided in every mode are almost same.
4. The strength of this software:
- There are many materials providing in this software
- All of students’ level can use this software because the materials in this software are various.
- tudying reading by using this software will help students enjoy in learning so that it is easy fo them to understand a text.
5. The process of using this software in teaching and learning process
- Teacher as admin of this software has to log in. Fill the username and the password
- Choose Reading Mode and click “Enter Reading Mode”
c. After that, there is a tip. Read it and clik “OK”.
Teacher can ask students to read faster by using some material that are providing. Click file, and then click load ebook. Choose the material and ask the students to read it fast.
Every single word will be appearing one by one fast.
This activity will help students to improve their reading skill. By practicing this activity, our eyes will rehearsal to read fast.
d. After giving this activity, teacher can give the students exercise to know the students activity. Back to home screen and choose and click menu mode. And then choose “perform comprehension test ” to determine students current reading speed. Choose what level they are and. The text will appear as follow
The students have to read this text and then answer the questions based on the text. After read it, click done and the questions will appear like this
The students have to answer all of the questions. Then, the students will know the result of the test. The teacher also can know the students reading speed.
Using Ace Reader in teaching reading skill is a good media to improve students reading skill. But, before use it, the teacher should know well this software because sometimes it is confusing. If teacher know well this software, she/ he will not face any problems when implement its in the classroom. This software is trial software, so we only use this software for 30 days. But don’t problem about it. Before 30 days, uninstall this software from your PC and then download again. You can use this software as long as you want.
